The 30-story, 425-room Grand Hyatt is one of only 18 Grand Hyatts in the world. The $145 million structure includes 98,000 square feet of new expansion space for the adjacent Washington State Trade and Convention Center.
The earthy feel of the interior spaces is enhanced with textures that highlight the warmth of natural materials, patterns signifying the local region, and shapes that are bold and elegant in their simplicity. Details reflect the commitment to a consistent, contemporary sense of quality and understated elegance. There is a sense of permanence reflected in the materials—natural stones, woods, and oxidized metals— that will transcend time. Light projecting through onyx assists in providing richness to the interior forms.
The guestrooms feature textures and colors that are designed to soothe. The graceful stone floors and ledges of the foyer are enhanced with warm onyx lighting. The interior figured-cherry wood doors with obscure ‘shoji screen-like’ glass allows a mellow light to flow throughout the spaces. The furnishings reflect a blending of modern design with classical elements and materials. The luxurious baths boast classic, carrara marble highlighted by mahogany vanities and mirrors and amber toned walls. The clean lines of the mahogany furnishings, leather chairs, plaster walls, and organic patterns within the fabrics, all create a classic, graceful feel for this very modern hotel.
